Review of ColourPop Liquid Lipstick

Is ColourPop Liquid Lipsticks worth all of the hype? From hearing so many positive responses about this up-and-coming brand, I decided to try it out for myself. It is time for me to find truth about the brand’s products.

The Online Shopping Experience

The online store, in my opinion, provided me with a good shopping experience. One thing I enjoyed is that in most of all of the product pictures, there were swatches of the product on different skin tones. This made visualization of the product much easier–in return the shopping experience also easier. The product description was also very informative about the difference of each of their liquid lipsticks.

One thing I did not enjoy about the website was that one of the liquid lipstick pages did not show all of what was in stock–forcing you to restart by reopening other pages. I found clearance items throughout other products–I would’ve enjoyed a page dedicated to just clearance items.

What I Ordered

  •  2 Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks in the colors Love Bug and Limbo.
  • 2 Ultra Satin Liquid Lipsticks in the colors Double Tap and Wink.
  • 1 Ultra Metallic Lip in color Mugshot

6 days later, the shipment came in. I was so happy for the shipment of liquid lipsticks to come in that when they did, I screamed of joy.

The Reaction

/Preface: I wore every color for a week and a half to have a  true judgement on how well they preformed./

Generally I found that the formula of the lipstick was inconsistent. One was thicker than the other, one was flakier than the other, and one was just right. It was like the I was in the Goldilocks And the Three Bears Book! Let me explain further: Once the Ultra Matte was on my exfoliated lips, anytime something touched my lips, large amount of flecks of color came off.

The Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick didn’t stay as long as I would’ve liked on the lips. The color would flake off easily and give you a “rimmed” look–where the only lipstick left was around the lip line. It also made my lips feel even more like the Sahara Desert. Other’s could also notice now dry looking the liquid lipstick looked like on.

The Ultra Satin Liquid Lipstick had some nice longevity on the lips. Reapplication was needed throughout my day, but it lasted longer than a non-liquid lipstick. This longevity was also paired with a smooth and moisturizing feel on the lips. The lipstick looked matte on the lips while also making your lips look moisturized.

The Ultra Metallic Liquid Lipstick was the most successful liquid lipstick overall. It stayed on longer than a normal lipstick, just not as much as a liquid lip. The color definitely made up for having to reapply. I had received so many comments and compliments about this one singular color more than all of the other ones combined. If you’re looking for a subdued yet bold look, this will be a color for you.
