Blogger Recognition Award

Marieke Mills nominated me for the Blogger Recognition Award. Marieke Mills is a fantastic person and writer; she continues to write very informative blog posts on books. These posts are not only informative, but they are also with a fun to read because of  her personality in the writing.  You can check out her blog here.

My blogging story:

I always liked having “my own place on the internet”. I also liked everything creative–from jewelry creation to painting to writing to photography and to website creation. When I was 8 years old I made my first website–and then many more websites–though wix.com; I stopped for a while until I was 14.

When 14, my friend and I talked to each other about starting blogs; then we did. After about a month, my friend found out blogging just wasn’t for her–but it was for me.

I have always wanted my own real website (as in a domain name, hosting service, and program) since I was 8–the lover of website creation coming out in me. I made a deal with myself: if I still enjoyed blogging after a few more months, I would make the upgrade.

The thing is I didn’t enjoy blogging, I loved it. The more I blog the more I love it.

When I knew upgrading was something I really wanted to pursue, I did months of research. Research included everything from which platform is the best for customization, prices, deals, and what my domain name should be. Then on Christmas of 2015, everything fell in place; this is what got me to where I am now.

Advice for You!

I really believe that the key to successful writing is to write in the first place. When writing your first draft of a post, focus on putting one word after another. Do not worry about the grammar, spelling, sentence structure, or subject alignment through out.

When you finish the first draft/post, then go through the writing at the end and fix everything that needs fixing–replace words, rewrite sentences, and change sentence structure. Remember: the editing process is as long or even longer than the first draft.
